Software support engineer

About the role

You join a small Belgian software company that builds solutions for digital signing, identity and authentication, loyalty systems, and smart card technology. Engineering happens in Java, C++, and Python, covering back end, front end, native, and embedded software. As a support engineer you are the point of contact for customers who report questions or issues.

What you bring

• Knowledge of web technology such as HTTP, SSL, and APIs
• Analytical, eager to learn, customer focused, and calm under pressure
• Interest in software testing or product management is a plus
• Fluent Dutch and English, plus basic French
• Bachelor's or master's degree in IT, or equivalent through experience
• Knowledge of network technology such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and firewalling
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments, and databases

What you will do

• Keep customers informed about maintenance, releases, and expected downtime
• Suggest improvements to the products and services
• Support customer onboarding with training material, training, and configuration
• Make sure agreed service levels are met
• Investigate issues by email, online calls, and remote sessions
• Follow up tickets in the service portal and provide second line support
• Solve problems yourself or hand them to the development team
