Python software engineer

About the role

A small high-tech company that develops and builds custom machines for the scientific and industrial market is strengthening its software team. You work in an interdisciplinary team on the control software for these machines. The work takes place in the company's own development and production facility.

What you will do

• Design and build extensions to the existing control software
• Keep code reusable, modular, testable, and maintainable
• Program PLC functions for hardware abstraction, safety, and real-time processes
• Work on a Python and Qt control system covering data storage, analysis, and automation
• Help commission machines on the test floor
• Work with continuous integration, version control, automated testing, and code analysis

What you bring

• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration on a sizeable software product
• Affinity with hardware control and strong troubleshooting skills
• At least 5 years of demonstrable software development experience
• Experience with object oriented application development in Python
• Nice to have: scrum experience and PLC work with Structured Text, Beckhoff TwinCAT, and motion control
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Bachelor or master in software engineering, industrial automation, or similar
