Python software engineer (tech lead)

About the role

A small high-tech manufacturing organisation develops and builds customer-specific machines for the scientific and industrial market. The software team is looking for an experienced Python engineer who also takes technical lead. You work in an interdisciplinary team on control software and help commission machines on the test floor.

What you will do

• Help commission machines on the test floor
• Coach and train other developers
• Contribute to the PLC layer for hardware abstraction, safety, and realtime processes
• Work on a control system in Python and Qt covering interface, data storage, and analysis
• Take the lead in design choices, technology choices, and estimates
• Design and build extensions to the machine control software

What you bring

• Bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering, industrial automation, or similar
• At least 5 years of demonstrable software development experience
• Experience as a team or tech lead on a sizeable software product
• Affinity with hardware control and strong troubleshooting skills
• Experience with object oriented application development in Python
• Good command of English, both spoken and written
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration
