Cookie statement

Last updated: 29 August 2026. This statement explains which cookies ipmerc.com uses, what each one does, and how long it stays. It sits alongside the privacy policy, which covers personal data more broadly. What a cookie is A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to store and send back on the next request. It is how a site knows that the person loading this page is the same person who signed in a minute ago. Comparable techniques such as local storage fall under this statement too. Your choice Visitors who are not signed in get a cookie window in the top right corner, with two buttons: accept or reject. Both are one click. Turning cookies down should cost no more effort than accepting them. We ask again after six months, and sooner if this statement changes in a way that affects what gets stored. Rejecting breaks nothing here. No part of ipmerc.com depends on an optional cookie. Essential cookies These are needed for the site to work, so they are set without asking. The ePrivacy Directive allows that for this category only. ipmerc_user_session. Keeps you signed in to the platform. Holds a signed token, not readable personal data. Expires after 30 days, or when you sign out. ipmerc_admin_session. The same thing for an administrator session. Expires after 30 days. ipmerc_cookie_consent. Stores your answer to the cookie window, as the word accepted or rejected plus a version number. Without it we would have to ask again on every page. Expires after six months. Security The signup form runs a Cloudflare Turnstile check to keep bots out. Turnstile can store a short-lived challenge value in your browser. It is there to tell a person from a script, not to profile you or follow you across sites. Preference cookies ipmerc_lang. Remembers whether you read the site in Dutch or English. Set only when you use the language switch, and it holds nothing but the two letters nl or en. Expires after 30 days. ipmerc_admin_lang. The same preference for an administrator. Expires after 30 days. Analytics and advertising We use none. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no social media tracker, and no third party building a picture of your visit. If that ever changes, this statement changes with it, the version number goes up, and the window asks you again before anything optional is set. Third parties Our hosting provider and Cloudflare process technical request data such as your IP address in order to serve and protect the site. That is server-side logging rather than a cookie, and the privacy policy covers it. Changing your mind Your answer is not final. Withdraw it on this page and the window comes back, or clear the cookies for ipmerc.com in your browser, which has the same effect. Browser controls Every browser can block or delete cookies, for one site or for all sites, usually under settings for privacy or site data.
