How the calculation works

A contract is written differently in each market. The calculator scales the 40 hour figure to the customary full-time hours there, so the hourly rate stays the same: 36 hours pay 90% of the 40 hour figure.

It adds the extra pay that is customary in that market, taxes the result in local currency and reports it back in euros. Monthly net is the annual net divided by twelve, with extra pay spread evenly, which is a fair comparison rather than what one payslip shows.

It starts at €5,750, close to the median of every job in the database.
