Salary data: IT markets in the Netherlands

Open source, updated August 2026

What do IT professionals earn in the Netherlands? Median gross monthly salaries per market, based on 2,201 observations from real placement data. No surveys, no estimates.

About this data

The salaries come from the placement data of Pearson & Partners, a Dutch recruitment agency active since 1999. We publish this data openly so recruiters, hiring managers and candidates have a fair reference point.

What you see

Gross monthly salaries in euros, based on 40 hours per week. The median is the leading figure. Averages are unreliable due to outliers and data entry errors. The analysis is limited to markets with 10 or more observations.

Two periods compared

August 2024 to July 2025 versus August 2025 to August 2026. Where the data allows, we also show quarterly trends. 1,313 candidates, 2,201 salary observations.

Rangschikking op salaris

Alle markten gerangschikt op meest recente mediaan. De balk toont het salaris ten opzichte van de best betaalde markt (Architectuur, €7.800 per maand).

Key findings

Four patterns from the data relevant for recruiters and hiring managers.

Architecture dominates

With a median of €7,800 per month, Architecture is the best-paid market. More than half of all observations are above €7,000. Consistent across eight quarters.

Cloud is declining

The largest market by data (337 observations) shows a gradual decline: from €7,000 in Q4 2024 to €5,500 in Q2 2026. Possibly more junior candidates entering the pipeline.

Security and Embedded are rising

Security jumps from €4,750 to €7,550. Embedded from €4,350 to €6,000. Both on few observations, but the direction is clear.

Low coverage, honest numbers

On average, 2 to 3% of candidates per market have a registered salary. The numbers describe what was registered, not necessarily what the market does. We report that alongside the data.

Methodology

The data comes from the salary_observations table, linked to the market assignment per candidate. Only non-ambiguous observations above zero are included. The median is calculated via PERCENTILE_CONT(0.5). All amounts are gross per month, based on 40 hours. Reference date: 20 August 2026.

A fundamental limitation: coverage is low. Of the more than 57,000 candidates with a market assignment, only 1,300 have a registered salary. The highest coverage is Architecture at 10.1%. Markets like Front-end (0.2%) and .NET (0.6%) have too little data for hard conclusions.
