Recruitment training for HR teams in the Netherlands

The Dutch market is where IPMERC's method was built and where its research is densest. Short trial periods, a one-month notice norm and a chain rule on temporary contracts make the first conversations the ones that count.

Dutch hiring is quick to start and regulated in how it continues. A trial period runs one month on a contract under two years and two months on a longer or permanent one. Statutory notice for an employee is one month. The chain rule caps temporary contracts at three in three years before a permanent one is owed, so the decision to make someone permanent arrives on a schedule, whether the manager is ready or not.

Compensation is discussed as gross monthly or annual salary, with 8 percent holiday allowance paid in May and, for a large share of the workforce, a collective agreement that sets the scale. Agency work is largely no cure no pay at 20 to 25 percent of gross annual salary, and the fee conversation is a daily one. Expats hear about the 30 percent ruling in their first call.

IPMERC was built here, from 25 years and more of Dutch agency calls, and the research unit covers the Dutch market more densely than any other. Programs take a recruiter from foundations to advanced, exercises are scored against a framework phase, and the knowledge base answers the mid-call question in seconds, in Dutch or English.

How hiring conversations run here.

The four places the local process puts its weight, and the framework phase that carries each one.

01

The brief sets the chain.

With permanent employment arriving on a schedule, a role filled on a thin brief is a permanent mistake in three years. The probe phase interrogates the brief: what the role is for, what happened to the last person, what the manager will reject on. It is the most used entry in the catalogue for a reason.

02

One month of notice, one counter-offer.

A Dutch candidate who resigns gives their employer four weeks to respond, and the counter arrives quickly. The conversation that survives it happened at the first call, when the recruiter found out why this person was really moving. WRIOC is the structure when the counter comes anyway.

03

NCNP is a conversation, not a rate.

No cure no pay at 20 to 25 percent, the client who wants three agencies on the role, the rebate request: the fee objection follows the same pattern every time. Dutch agencies train it here as a scored skill, and the knowledge base carries the answers in the vernacular the market uses.

04

Direct culture, structured interview.

Dutch interviews are direct and informal, which is not the same as unstructured. A hiring manager with a question set and a phase structure gets past the pleasant conversation to what the candidate actually did. The printable hand-outs give them both.

What IPMERC does for a team here, and what it does not.

Said plainly, so the first visit is not the only one.

The home market of the research.

IPMERC Research reads the Dutch series from Eurostat and CBS, publishes most of its papers about the Netherlands, and IPMERC Futures scores Dutch cells and their Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht sub-regions. A Dutch HR team gets the training and the densest market evidence on the site.

Dutch and English catalogue, same time zone.

The catalogue is bilingual and every user picks their language. Search understands Dutch morphology, so 'bezwaren' finds what 'bezwaar' would. Live sessions are planned per team.

Euro pricing, VAT at the Dutch rate.

Prices are in euros, excluding VAT. VAT is applied at checkout at 21 percent for Dutch customers. The Enterprise tier is on contract with a 12-month minimum.

Labour market research: Netherlands

Questions from HR teams in the Netherlands.

Is the content in Dutch?

Yes. Every entry, exercise and program exists in Dutch and English, and each user picks their language. The Dutch versions are written in Dutch recruitment vernacular, not translated from English.

Does IPMERC cover Dutch labour law?

No. Trial periods, the chain rule, collective agreements and the 30 percent ruling are your legal or payroll team's domain. IPMERC trains the conversations inside the process.

Where is the Dutch market data?

At IPMERC Research and IPMERC Futures. The Futures grid scores every job family for the Netherlands and its main regions, and every figure names its source and reference period.

Same frameworks, same scores, wherever you hire.
