Recruitment training for HR teams in Belgium

Belgian hiring happens in two languages, under one unified statute, with a package that reads like a tax plan. The conversations that carry it, the bilingual brief, the package talk, the offer, are what IPMERC trains and scores. Belgium is in its research.

Belgium hires in Dutch and French, often for one role, sometimes in one interview. Since the unified employment statute of 2014, notice periods run in weeks and grow with seniority for blue-collar and white-collar staff alike. Sector minimums are set by joint committees, and the package matters as much as the gross: a thirteenth month, meal vouchers, eco-cheques, group insurance and, for a large share of professionals, a company car.

That makes the compensation conversation a structural one. A candidate compares net outcomes, not gross figures, and a recruiter who can only quote a salary is quoting the least interesting number in the package. Agency fees commonly run between 20 and 25 percent of gross annual salary, and the Brussels market adds the question of which language a candidate will be managed in.

IPMERC is a training and knowledge platform for those conversations, and Belgium is one of the nine regions the research unit covers. Programs take a recruiter from foundations to advanced, exercises are scored against a framework phase, and the knowledge base answers the mid-call question in seconds. The catalogue is in English and Dutch, which covers half of Belgium in its own language.

How hiring conversations run here.

The four places the local process puts its weight, and the framework phase that carries each one.

01

The bilingual brief has one extra question.

Beyond what the role is for and what the manager rejects on, a Belgian intake asks which language the team runs in and how much of the other the role needs. A brief that skips it produces a shortlist the manager cannot use. The probe phase makes the question routine.

02

Present the package, not the gross.

Thirteenth month, meal vouchers, eco-cheques, group insurance and the car are an argument when each is paired to something the candidate said they valued. FAB is that pairing, and the exercises rehearse it until a recruiter can run a package conversation without a spreadsheet.

03

Notice in weeks, counter-offers in days.

Under the unified statute a senior candidate may owe months of notice, in weeks. That is time for the current employer to respond. The conversation that survives a counter happened at the first call, when the recruiter found out why this person was really moving. WRIOC is the structure when the counter arrives anyway.

04

Fees across a small market.

Belgian agencies work a compact market where clients talk to each other. The fee and exclusivity conversation at 20 to 25 percent follows the same pattern as every other objection, and agency teams train it here as a scored skill rather than a rate card.

What IPMERC does for a team here, and what it does not.

Said plainly, so the first visit is not the only one.

Belgium is in the research.

IPMERC Research reads Eurostat's Belgian vacancy and labour cost series, and IPMERC Futures scores Belgian cells beside Dutch, French and German ones. A Belgian HR team gets the training and a live view of its own market's evidence, with every figure traceable.

Dutch and English catalogue, French pages, same time zone.

The catalogue is in English and Dutch, so a Flemish team trains in its own language and a francophone team in English. This page exists in all three languages. Live sessions are planned per team, in the same time zone.

Euro pricing, VAT handled at checkout.

Prices are in euros, excluding VAT. VAT is applied at checkout at the Belgian rate, or reverse-charged on a valid VAT number for a business customer. The Enterprise tier is on contract with a 12-month minimum.

Questions from HR teams in Belgium.

Can a mixed Flemish and francophone team use one account?

Yes. Each user picks their catalogue language, Dutch or English, and management views show scores across the whole team, per person and per framework phase. French-language custom entries can be authored on the Enterprise tier.

Does IPMERC cover Belgian employment law?

No. Notice under the unified statute, joint committee minimums and language legislation are your legal team's domain. IPMERC trains the conversations inside the process.
